Local poet Nicola Hester welcomes in the shortest day of the year
Light melts
Too early in the day.
Cool, crisp – the hills fade
As night settles – lays.
Darkness drenches
A silenced skyline
Where stars sing and the moon hums
Until tomorrow
Where light returns new
Fresh – a little while longer.
